Current Bandwidth Margins by District

by Bob Houghton last modified 2006-05-01 13:12

This table collects data that will provide a measure of the current capacity of consortium schools to participate in selected Internet2 (I2) events now. This enables IT members to gain experience with I2 and to further test the range of their networks while the gigabit network is being completed.

An application called DVTS is used by the North Carolina School of the Arts for sharing its Internet2 events. http://www.sfc.wide.ad.jp/DVTS/. At some point it would be helpful for IT members who have at least 5 mbps of headroom to experiment with its use between schools in the consortium.

Where schools do not have packet directing software the allows any portion of the bandwidth to be reallocated for special events, then adding in the names of specific schools would be better than a single district set of numbers. Please insert new rows as needed using the table editor under the school district's name.
