Facilitate and enhance inter-institutional collaboration (for example, broadband can be used to share scarce teacher resources between schools and colleges via high-speed interactive videoconferencing)
link different institutions in a cost-effective way to create innovative joint projects that encourage communication and cooperation
Widen access to educational material and new learning opportunities by using links from schools to the wider communities, such as libraries, museums, theaters and other cultural institutions.
provide access to educational materials to learners with disabilities or behavioral problems
Intranet – Student access at home
Virtual Campus
Encompass resources outside school using streaming video, multimedia and collaborative software tools
Integrate Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) and e-learning into curriculums
computer-based learning
web based learning
virtual classrooms
digital collaboration
Interactive learning modules and games that reinforce learning as well as printable activity sheets.
 Offer upper secondary courses
Online learning is a subset of these e-learning projects that uses the internet, intranets and extranets.
Improve efficiency and productivity for management of education programs:
Streamline reporting and administration
Automate the administration and management of  schools
Deliver curriculum details and examination results to students in a more efficient way
Enable human resources to be shared (a single skilled teacher can reach widely dispersed student populations) thus reducing the need for large teaching staffs and eliminate travel costs

Some key issues for higher education:

·        perform collaborative research with colleagues in other institutions, including grid computing

provision of internet access for large numbers of students simultaneously
the development and delivery of online or distance education
use the internet to access research information and online journals
communicate with colleagues all over the world
modeling and data visualization in research to better understand complex processes, especially in fields such as environmental science and biotechnology

Possible Survey Questions:

How many students have Internet access at home. Is it dial-up, cable, DSL,etc.
