CEU Activity Log
Assessment
3 hours. July 19, 2006. After several days finished reading Measuring Lifelong Learning for the New Economy. Tuijnman, Albert Compare v33 n4 p471-82 Dec 2003. He references survey and questionnaire work that will be useful in thinking about WNCEdNet committee work to assess teacher knowledge. I have the document on my Mac laptop. Consider a summary to share with grad students.
Podcasting - Compositions with Audio and Image for Global Audiences
- 1 hour. July 18, 2006, 5:10-6:10 pm test new headphone sets in the lab for compatibility; solve problem with speaker volume on teacher workstation; add to Developing Curriculum Resources Tutorials Page at http://ustream.wcu.edu:8300/Members/rhoughton/mac-tutorials; study Podcasting Knowledge at http://www.atomiclearning.com/iLife06_podvod_wkshp, Studied the 12 online screen movie tutorials in section A., B. and C. The lab is ready to go. Can better speakers for the teacher workstation be found? Email William to see if speakers will be added to the Mac room as on the other side of the lab.
- The phrase think global, act local has relevance to webcasting. The composer must think about the needs of a very large global audience that might be interested and a local audience of more immediate social groups that is definitely interested.
- 65 minutes. July 18, 2006, 11:15-11:50 pm, studied section D, 1-8. Browsed others. Comments: This should be accompanied or led by a script of the narration in table format for parallel images, sound effects, video elements and related web pages. I wonder if the URL/web page link tracks will allow frame page designation? This looks like the perfect solution to my text audio corner composition needs.
- 90 minutes. July 19, 2006, 7:30 to 9:00 am, completed thru section I. Skipped section H on iWeb for now as do not want to pay for such an account to experiment. Should like at the possibility of uploading to google's Video storage system. Oncer again impressed by the need to change the meaning of language arts in school curriculum to media arts or something more inclusive. Next step is to prepare podcasts and vodcasts for chapter leads. Time to rethink some chapters. Must remember to put requirement for USB headphone sets in syllabi to get better quality and cross-platform compatibility.
